Phantom Blade Zero sold 4 million copies in 3 days: Steam's biggest launch of the year
In short: The action game from Chinese studio S-Game passed 833,000 concurrent players on Steam in its first weekend.

Phantom Blade Zero, the third-person action game from Chinese studio S-Game, sold more than 4 million copies in its first 72 hours. The studio announced it on its official X account with a thank-you message to players.
A Steam record
On Steam it launched with more than 431,000 concurrent players and kept climbing over the weekend, peaking at 833,921 according to SteamDB. It is the store's biggest launch of the year, ahead of Forza Horizon 6 and well clear of Onimusha: Way of the Sword, The Blood of Dawnwalker and Ace Combat 8.
The 4 million figure includes sales on Steam, PlayStation 5 and WeGame, Tencent's China-only PC store. The studio did not give a per-platform breakdown.
Still far from Black Myth: Wukong
The big benchmark is Black Myth: Wukong, another Chinese action game, which hit 2,415,714 concurrent players on Steam in 2024 and has sold around 30 million copies. Phantom Blade Zero is still well short of those numbers, but it confirms that Chinese studios now compete head to head in the genre.
What critics say
Eurogamer's review praised the animations, the environments and the flow of combat, but criticised a weak story and boss fights that break the game's rhythm.
