GTA 6 reportedly needs about 210 GB on PS5, according to the PlayStation Store listing
A tracker of PlayStation Store data found GTA 6's download size: 210 GB. It launches on November 19, with pre-loading from the 12th.
If the figure is right, GTA 6 needs more than 200 GB to download on the PlayStation 5. Neither Rockstar nor Sony has confirmed it, but with the launch three weeks away it is time to start making room.
How big is GTA 6 on PS5
On October 28, 2026 Eurogamer reported that PlayStation Game Size, a site that follows PlayStation Store releases by checking its back end, spotted a 210 GB download for Grand Theft Auto VI on PS5. It is the first concrete number to appear.
Where the number comes from
This is not an official announcement: it is data tracked from the store itself, so it may change before launch. It is also unclear whether it already includes the day-one patch or whether that will be a separate download.
In addition, the space it really takes on the console's SSD may be smaller than the download. Even so, everyone will have to download more than 200 GB to play.
The game is expected to feature a huge, highly detailed open world with plenty of side activities and a cinematic story that lasts for hours, which explains much of the size. For comparison, Call of Duty is famous for its enormous size with every mode installed, although there you can uninstall the parts you do not play; with GTA 6 that could be harder, especially if GTA Online arrives, since it shares the map and content with the campaign.
Dates to keep in mind
GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and digital pre-loading starts on November 12. If your connection is slow, start the download that same day.

Check the free space on your console: an 825 GB PS5 leaves only about 650 GB usable out of the box, and with other games installed 210 GB fills up fast. You can free space by deleting what you do not play or add a compatible M.2 SSD.
