Online webcam test: check your web camera
Check in seconds whether your webcam works, what resolution it records at and how many frames per second it really delivers.
How to use the webcam test
1. Turn on the camera
Press “Turn on camera” and allow access. If you have more than one, choose it from the list.
2. Check the data
You will see the real resolution and frames per second. For video calls, 720p or more and at least 25 fps is best.
3. Take a test photo
With “Take photo” you save an image to check focus, light and colours. “Mirror” flips the image.
Most common webcam problems
The camera does not show up
Check that it is connected, the privacy shutter is open and no other app (Zoom, Teams, Discord) is using it.
Permission denied
Click the lock next to the page address and allow the camera. On Windows: Settings → Privacy → Camera.
Black, choppy or low-frame-rate image
It may be low light, a damaged USB cable or a camera fault. Laptop cameras can be checked and repaired at MBTECNIC.
