Phantom Blade Zero asks for 300 GB of free space to pre-load, double its installed size

S-GAME's action game launches on October 29 on PC and PS5. It takes 145 GB, but pre-loading on PC needs 300 GB free and an SSD.

Phantom Blade Zero, the first big action game from Chinese studio S-GAME, now has pre-loading open on PC, and it comes with a surprise: to pre-load it you need 300 GB free, more than double the 145 GB it takes once installed.

Why so much space

As the studio explained in a Steam post, temporary files and the complete game have to coexist while the download is unlocked, that is, during decryption and decompression. When the installation ends the extra space is freed and the game stays at 145 GB.

PC requirements

The minimum is an Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 16 GB of RAM and a GeForce GTX 1660 6 GB or a Radeon RX 5500 XT 8 GB, to play at 1080p and 30 FPS with upscaling. Recommended is a Core i5-10600K or Ryzen 5 5600X with an RTX 3060 Ti or an RX 6700 XT. Both need Windows 10 or 11 and, most importantly, a mandatory SSD.

When and where it launches

The game comes out on October 29, 2026 for PC (Steam and Epic Games Store) and PS5; Steam lists it as October 28 because of the time difference. The standard edition costs $59.99. Before launch it has already sold over 500,000 copies on Steam, according to some estimates.

At MBTECNIC we see it often: new games keep getting heavier and demand an SSD and lots of free space. If your PC or PS5 runs short of space, or the machine overheats while gaming, we check it at the workshop.
